It shortens mixing time, aids brushing, increases spreading power, if more than one pigment is used then helps maintain uniform mixture, easens grinding of metal oxide pigments, rubber vehical based formulations of uniform colour can be mode, prevents hard settling of pigments, eliminates flocculation in water based paints.
